Draft Horse Pull
Friday July 22 at 6:30 PM in the Pavilion
Horse pulling is a draft horse competition where horses in harness, usually two animals, pull a stone-boat or weighted sled and the winner is the team that can pull the most weight for a short distance.
Competition horses (unlike Amish work horses) do not work in the crop or hay field for extensive hours everyday. These horses are worked to build up their strength for competition. Some pulls have different weight classes and strict rules to avoid animal cruelty. The Belgian horse is the breed most frequently seen, but other draft breeds are also used.
